Why do I need a Security Token to access my Internet Banking for Business service? What are the benefits of using a Security Token? |
| |
At HSBC, we are committed to improving online security for our customers. The introduction of the Security Token means that Internet Banking for Business customers will have a form of two-factor authentication to access their accounts. Two-factor authentication is considered by the industry to be a stronger means of authenticating our customers because it relies on something only the customer knows, and something only the customer has.
The Security Token provides a superior level of protection from a large variety of online attacks, including:
- Fraudulent & Spoof Websites
- Spyware
- Phishing
- Trojan Horse

Can I have more than 1 Security Token for the same Internet Banking account if I am willing to pay for the additional security Token(s)? |
| |
For your increased protection, only one Security Token can be activated to one User ID at any time. Every Security Token is unique and cannot be duplicated. Only the individual in possession of the Token can access the account. This means that each user can only have one Security Token to access their account and only one Security Token can be linked to an Internet Banking account at all times.
