You can get Whole of Life Protection if:

  • You're a UAE resident
  • You're an existing HSBC customer
  • You're aged between 20 and 60 years old

Like any protection plan, this policy does not cover injuries resulting from certain events, such as:

  • War or warlike operations
  • Intentional self injury or suicide
  • Criminal or illegal acts

Exclusions have been kept to a minimum. Details of full exclusions will be available on the policy terms and conditions.

Are the investments of the savings plan done in recognized in Shariah compliant funds?

All investments are in recognized and approved Shariah compliant funds managed by HSBC Global Asset Management and administered by Salama Islamic Arab Insurance Company.

Is HYAT plan just a whole of life takaful plan or it has some investment element too?

HYAT is a whole of life plan with an investment element too. The plan provides a family takaful benefit for the term as well as builds up a fund value.

Do I have an access to my fund value during the term of the plan?

Yes, the customer has an access to his fund value at any time after the initial nil allocation period and that too without any penalty.

What if I want a specific coverage with the plan, like critical illness benefit? Can I opt for it?

Yes. The HYAT plan comes with 5 additional riders which the customer can opt for depending on his needs.

What is NIL allocation, and what is the NIL allocation period?

During the Nil Allocation Period, no contribution will be allocated to your Personal Investment Account. The length of the Nil Allocation Period depends on the contribution payment term you have selected If the contribution payment term is 6 years then Nil-Allocation Period is 12 Months. In case the contribution payment term is full term then Nil-Allocation Period is 24 Months.
