What do I need to join?

To open a Global Money Account and apply for a Global Money Debit Card you must:

  • be 18 years old and above
  • be a UAE resident and/or hold a valid Emirates ID
  • hold an active HSBC current/saving account (Global private banking, Jade, Premier, Advance, Personal banking)
  • register for HSBC UAE Online Banking and download the HSBC UAE Mobile Banking app
  • fulfill HSBC’s internal policies and procedures requirements (subject to the Bank’s discretion)

This product/service may be affected by changes in foreign currency exchange rates.

Correspondent and receiving banks may charge additional fees when they process the transaction.

Penalties and Fees may be applied if there is a customer error or omission in providing correct or incomplete remittance information and may cause a rejection of, or delays in, the transfer. We shall not be held liable for any potential loss.

The actual time to complete a transaction may differ from estimates due to increased scrutiny of transactions by the financial institution or entity providing financial services to the beneficiary of remittances.

  • select HSBC Global Money then 'Get Started' and follow the steps to sign up
  • Once signed up for Global Money Account, order Global Money debit card by tapping on ‘Order Card’ option within Global Money Account.

New to the app?

  • If you haven't already done so, register for online banking and use your phone as your Digital Secure Key
  • download the HSBC UAE app
  • when you first log on, select Activate Digital Secure Device and follow the steps

1 Instant Global Money payments can only be made between individual HSBC accounts, locally or globally in participating countries/territories. By “instantly” we mean within 6 seconds. Global Money payments can be made between eligible HSBC and non-HSBC accounts worldwide in participating countries/territories subject to the availability of supported currencies. Global Money Transfers to other banks may take longer.

2Chinese yuan renminbi (CNY) is not supported with your Global Money Debit Card.

3We draw on a combination of factors to provide Global Money Account users with competitive conversion rates, quoted to you at the time of making the transfer. You’ll receive the HSBC Exchange Rate before you complete a transaction. This rate refreshes every 90 seconds to align to market exchange rates. The HSBC Exchange Rate includes the HSBC cost rate and a foreign currency conversion margin.

This capability is part of the optional Payment Network feature. To receive funds into a Global Money Account via the Payment Network, the intended beneficiary must also be a holder of a Global Money Account and have opted into the Payment Network. 

The Payment Network is an optional consent based feature that you may choose to register for. The Payment Network allows users holding a Global Money Account to search for other customers who have registered for the Payment Network using their mobile phone number in order to make multi-currency payments directly to the account holder.
