Our thoughts are with all those affected by current events. HSBC remains steadfast in our confidence in the GCC and in the long-term strength, resilience and promise of the region. Our conviction in the GCCs’ fundamentals and its future is unchanged. The region has repeatedly shown its ability to endure periods of disruption, adapt with determination, and emerge stronger. We continue to believe that the years ahead will bring renewed stability, growth, and prosperity. HSBC has been deeply committed to the region for more than 130 years. We remain invested in its future and in the opportunities that lie ahead for its people, businesses, and economies.

Upcoming regulatory changes for customers resident in the European Economic Area

If you’re an HSBC UAE customer and you live in a country within the European Economic Area (EEA), we’d like to inform you about upcoming legal and regulatory changes that may affect how we offer certain banking products and services.

These changes relate to Article 21c of the European Union Capital Requirements Directive (CRD VI), which introduces new requirements for banks located outside the EEA - including HSBC Bank Middle East Limited, UAE - when providing certain services to customers who are resident in the EEA. The requirements are expected to take effect across EEA countries on 1 January 2027.

What is CRD VI?

CRD VI introduces new rules on how banks outside the EEA, including HSBC UAE, provide certain products and services to customers who live in the EEA. These include deposit accounts, loans, and issuing guarantees.

What does this mean for you?

No change to your existing products and services: If you already hold products or services with HSBC UAE, you don’t need to take any action. We’ll continue to service them in line with our current processes.

How we may offer new products going forward: From 1 January 2027, we will not be able to proactively offer additional services and products from HSBC UAE to customers who are resident in the EEA beyond those they already receive. You can still contact us to ask about products and services if you wish.

Need support?

If you have any questions, please contact your relationship manager or visit Contact us. You may also wish to seek independent financial, tax or legal advice if needed.

Verify your cards in the HSBC UAE app

Never share your Emirates ID, bank details or any personal information.

Always verify requests through official government channels. Please do not delete our app based on instructions from anyone else.
